Talk with Screen Queensland reveals progress towards Kanetica film
After Kanetica’s successful meeting with Screen Queensland last week to discuss the idea of making an Indo-Australian film about the Kanetica story, today’s follow up call progressed the proposal with a discussion around Screen Queensland’s various funding programs.
Screen Queensland’s role is to develop and support the local film industry and attract production to Queensland, as they are excited about the idea of a movie about Basil’s story of overcoming adversity and bullying, and the love story between Basil and Agata that contributed to the creation of the Kanetica cause.
Once Kanetica has a script, Screen Queensland can evaluate the script and recommend some funding options.
“It costs a lot of money to make a film,” says Raju, “and even though the Kanetica film won’t be a big budget movie, they will still need funds to cover the costs. We will continue to seek assistance and investors, because Kanetica’s story must be told.”
The Gold Coast City Council has also backed the film as India is a priority market for the Gold Coast for holiday and study, and the movie will generate jobs and awareness of the beautiful Gold Coast.
